Amador Station is a transit-oriented affordable community geared toward families living in an area among the highest in terms of housing costs. KTGY’s architects successfully navigate regulations and construction costs with expert design that creates a seamless community around the site’s access to the nearby transit hub. Our building design creates a distinct architectural character inspired by the BART station, which enhances the pedestrian experience and complements nearby residences. Working within state and local requirements to secure funding, our team crafted a holistic approach balancing architecture, resident-focused amenities and site-specific features that integrate the transit plaza.
Site layout, facade character and building design comply with the Downtown Dublin Specific Plan and TOD objectives. The five-story building creates a range of units for all family sizes, specifically addressing the affordability challenge in downtown Dublin. A contemporary, industrial-inspired style matches the finish to the overall character of the neighborhood. The building is expressed with a podium to house amenities and parking, a uniform residential midsection, and accented forms along the top, while priority corners serve as tower expressions.
The development benefits from integrated sustainable features that meet our client’s goal for AHSC funding. Our site plan minimizes paved areas to create opportunities for landscaping and protected pedestrian access. Amenities orient away from southern solar exposure to limit stress on mechanical cooling systems, and the building uses architectural screening and shade devices to further reduce its impact. The integration of the BART plaza and the central living street with limited vehicular access, creates both formal and informal opportunities for residents to engage, gather, and develop community.
