Home of the Week: Granite Heights, Topaz Plan

NAHB Best in American Living Blog

November 9, 2018

This Las Vegas community’s rugged, contemporary styles mix flat and shed roofs with stone, bronze, rusted metal, wood tiling, and plaster, creating warm, rustic, modern homes.

The Best in American Living Awards (BALA) Gold winner for Detached Home, 3,001-3,500 Square Feet is designed with a 30-degree rotation of the rooms along the rear of the home, orientating common spaces and the master suite toward the beautiful views.

The house rotation also creates outdoor spaces with unobstructed views, while providing more privacy from neighboring homes.

The community sits near the bottom of a National Park, and the parcels sit on the highest allowable point, with permanent open space and park behind them.

BALA judges commented: “Unique feature the way they took the plan and twisted it”…”Blurs inside and outside”…”Desert modern in Vegas”…”Unpredictable.”
