Executive Director, Architecture
Laurel Gillette is an executive director in the KTGY Los Angeles office. She is responsible for the overall management of personnel as well as the direct management of various residential, mixed-use and large-scale renovation projects. Her mixed-use expertise includes the special skill set of seamlessly integrating residential, office and/or hotel/hospitality with retail. She has a solid background as a leader in management through her long-standing practice of architecture and a proven track record in the design and management of substantial architectural projects as well as the direction of all personnel involved.
With more than 40 years of real estate design, planning and construction experience, Ms. Gillette has established herself as an expert in the overall development of housing with particular emphasis on large-scale housing rehabilitation, senior housing and mixed-use projects. One of her greatest strengths is her knowledge and proficiency of the overall process required for the successful completion of both market rate and affordable residential communities. In addition, she has worked extensively on institutional projects, making her an ideal team member for the development of joint-use projects.
Ms. Gillette has devoted much of her time to not-for-profit organizations and recently served as president of the Angelus Plaza Advisory Council, a group dedicated to the well-being of seniors throughout the Los Angeles area. Her term as president followed the completion of the $40 million rehabilitation of Angelus Plaza, a 1,093-unit senior housing development comprised of four high-rise towers located in the heart of Los Angeles. Under her direction, a three-phase construction program is underway for the rehabilitation of the Angelus Plaza Senior Facility Center, a six-story facility serving the residents of Los Angeles. She currently serves on the executive committee for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) California Council’s board of directors and is a member of the Building Industry Association (BIA) Los Angeles/Ventura chapter’s board of directors.
