Reata Glen, a senior living community in Rancho Mission Viejo, has welcomed its first residents.

The community broke ground in 2016 and has 480 units with 20 floor plans. Management in a statement said it expects some 300 residents to be moved in by the week of May 28.

Reata Glen, a Life Plan Community, is divided into three neighborhoods with various types of homes: two and three bedroom villas, single-story homes from 1,400 to 2,700 square feet; two and three bedroom garden terrace townhomes ranging from 1,300 to 2,700 square feet; and one to three bedroom apartments, ranging in size from 700 to 2,000 square feet.

The homes require an entry fee, which the company declined to provide. Amenities include a movie theater, performing arts theater, a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, an indoor pool, multiple dining venues, billiards and card rooms, gardening areas, and walking and cycling trails with access to San Juan Creek Trail, leading directly to Doheny State Beach.

The community also offers care at an adjacent health center, where residents will have access to assisted living, memory care, and long-term care in a skilled nursing center.

Reata Glen partnered with California-based W.E. O’Neil Construction and KTGY Group Architects + Planning in building the community. It’s estimated the site will create some 300 jobs in the Rancho Mission Viejo area.
