LA County and USC Medical Center’s 90-acre campus in Lincoln Heights is undergoing a development boom.

The new seven-story Norris Healthcare Consultation Center, at the southeast corner of San Pablo and Alcazar streets, a 115k SF treatment facility designed by the global architectural firm HKS, houses a women’s cancer program, an infusion center and a multi-disciplinary clinic.

Additionally, the first of two new seven-story Keck Medical Center buildings is planned for completion in 2016. Construction of the second building will follow on an adjacent parking lot, upon completion of a new parking garage on Valley Boulevard.

American Campus Communities, a student housing developer, is also building a new five-story housing project, Currie Hall, on Alcazar, across the street from Norris Healthcare Consultation Center, according to Urbanize LA. Designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning, the 177-unit apartment complex for medical students provides a maximum of 450 beds and a full array of amenities, including a fitness center, a swimming pool, and free printing and WiFi service.

Scheduled for occupancy in fall 2016, the project’s units will rent for between $899 and $1,499 per month. [ULA]
