Tavarua Senior Apartments is a 50-unit affordable apartment community located in the California coastal community of Carlsbad, on the site of a former assisted living facility in a walkable suburban neighborhood. The apartment community is designed to complement the neighborhood while providing a high-quality and safe environment for its residents. Ten of the 50 units are designated for qualifying older adults with mental illness. The development is comprised of one three-level building that includes a large courtyard with a community garden, a community room, activity room, counseling room, computer and multi-media room, outdoor barbecues and tables, communal kitchen, laundry room and mail room. The residents of Tavarua Senior Apartments are less than one fourth of a mile from a major supermarket,
pharmacy, restaurants, coffee shop, library, park and the Carlsbad Senior Center, and near Downtown Carlsbad and the beach. Additionally, residents are located within 500 feet of a North County Transit District BREZE bus stop to minimize commutes and lessen pollution.
