Blanc on Blanchard, a new nine-story mixed-use apartment building, is the tallest building in the central business district, providing a vibrant anchor to the downtown urban center of this suburban community near Milwaukee. The primarily white façade serves to reduce the overall dominance of the building within the surrounding community, adding a contemporary character to the urban street scene. Residential units are arranged to provide an exterior amenity deck with west-facing sun access and set back from the single-family neighbors to the east. The plan orientation also provides views from the units in several directions. The slope of the site was addressed by stepping the building. Parking is dug into the existing grade and allows for the residential entrance on the high end of the site and parking entrance at the lower elevation on Blanchard Rd. The podium deck is elevated at this corner to provide retail below and allow the residential tower to step back from the street and reduce the impact to the street scape.
