When the owner of an underutilized and over parked neighborhood center needed to bring it back to life KTGY’s experts were brought in. Through an extensive study of the area, the people and their habits the designers brought forward a repositioning concept based on a live-work-play base camp that appealed a younger, social-minded demographic. The mixed use design places innovative micro-lofts, consisting of prefabricated modular units, above a live-work space targeted to emerging entrepreneurs. The street scene is activated by micro retail concepts: a local coffee shop, high-end bakery and wine bar, all mixed in with flexible retail and green space that connects to nearby nature trails.

Unlike a typical shopping center dominated by parking, our designers center a “village green,” accompanied by a bike shop and bike repair. The retained parking lot easily shifts to host events and a nomadic stage. A community room is at the heart of this new destination, including a catering kitchen, market space, amenities that serve residents and the wider community. The nomadic stage invites guests to the plaza and ongoing events will keep them coming back. A rotating schedule of craft and farmers markets, combined with all the available attractions, turns repeat visitors into neighbors.
