The Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) comprises 24 schools with a K through 12 student population of 14,151 students, 710 teachers, and 510 staff members. The Casa del Maestro workforce housing apartments are offered to faculty and staff at below market rates to attract and retain outstanding teachers in the cost-prohibitive market of northern California. The apartment site is owned by the District and located adjacent to an existing elementary school and library. The site consists of 2-story and 3-story motor court buildings creating a green lawn commons that terminates into a single story community building. Phase II incorporated numerous upgrades to improve environmental sustainability to help meet LEED Silver guidelines. The 70-unit apartment community offers one, two and three bedroom units with high quality features.
