Glenwood Gardens is an affordable community in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. With most units sized for families, and choices to suit individuals and couples, the development appeals to a wide range of people and fills much-needed gaps in the housing landscape. KTGY’s designers, in developing their site and architectural plans, use the firm’s experience in Mountain West affordable housing to create a community that feels of a place, and centers wellness, accessibility and connection.
Elevations and material selections create a modern twist on mountain living. Steep, peaked roofs are a matter of style and function, accounting for winter snowfall while mimicking the mountain skyline. The aesthetic style follows local design standards, complementing the small-town character with visual diversity. Solar panels strategically cover the roofs and recuperate significant energy costs for this sustainable, all-electric community. The site plan accommodates a steep grade to make it wheelchair accessible. Buildings center around a communal plaza where residents can enjoy the mountain views, open space and the basketball court. This layout reinforces a diverse neighborhood and a design that calls for quality, durable materials, making this a lasting center of value.
