Heritage Square South is an urban oasis thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of Pasadena’s senior unhoused population. KTGY worked closely with the client and the city of Pasadena to create a development that provide safe, supportive and dignified housing for Pasadena’s most vulnerable residents. This new community has received enthusiastic support from the public.
Anchored by a commercial corner with outdoor seating, and a public plaza that softens the exterior, this building integrates residents with the community; a single, controlled entry point keeps the senior residents safe. Substantial interior courtyards and ground-floor flex space encourage residents to get out of their units and start socializing. Form and function come together in a building that shows an urban face inspired by Old Town Pasadena, an interior garden sanctuary, and a public plaza that regulates flow between them.
