KTGY’s interior design for the lobby bar and restaurant of the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco pays homage to the city’s richly textured connection to the American Dream, the history of Nob Hill and the Bay seascape. Embracing current California style with a Spanish Mission twist, our designers incorporate local parks, architecture and San Francisco’s famously moody climate into a refreshing set of spaces that welcome locals and visitors alike to this storied location. KTGY’s redesign of the Ritz manages to create unique and elevated guest experiences in a location rich with luxury offerings. The hotel’s lobby hosts the moody lounge and bar, featuring a visit from “Karl,” the ubiquitous Bay fog. Karl’s moods and impact are reflected in the color palette and in playful net lighting installations. Boasting intricate leather and metal elements, the new bar and backlit liquor case is inspired by vintage travel trunks, in a combination of functional and aesthetic details. Design for the restaurant leans into a modern interpretation of a Spanish Mission. Plaster walls punctuated by verdant green tiled arches hold up a detailed ceiling that showcases antique wooden beams and provides a warm backdrop to a contemporary design with historic influences.
