Tempo Nine Mile at nine-mile station is located in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colorado. The site is positioned between two significant arterial streets, which created the opportunity for the residential development to become a gateway to the newly constructed retail corridor. Currently, the area is surrounded by large amounts of asphalt and experiences a large traffic volume. With the incorporation of this new mixed-use residential community, designers have created an inviting atmosphere for the community through the use of grading, landscape, architecture and warm colors. Woodtone and masonry elements are used throughout the façade to help soften the building’s five-story massing. The use of extensive glazing at the corners helps create gateways welcoming pedestrians into the building. The façade that faces the interior of the site is designed to have a townhome feel. Tempo Nine Mile provides residents with direct access to a grocer, the Light Rail and other commercial amenities. While designed with an urban feel in mind, the community location also speaks to the desires of the outdoor enthusiast. Direct proximity to trails and Cherry Creek State Park allows tenants to connect with the natural environment and remain active. Further emphasizing a relationship to nature, exterior decks are provided on more the 80% of the units, and designers emphasized sustainability through the use of solar and pre-installed electrical car charging stations.
