Traverse Apartments, integrated into the urban fabric of Lakewood, Colorado, draws on the design of the neighborhood’s new townhomes as well as the 1950s and 1960s style single-family dwellings. By fusing these design elements, Traverse Apartments ties the community together. The modern and contemporary design style is emphasized with strong metallic massings that create guides and connect the neighborhood. Aluminum elements flow through the façade while muted brick tones, highlighted with splashes of color, intertwine the new with the old. This new community addresses the area’s housing shortage, creating density and enhancing the urban feel of the city of Lakewood’s urban feel. The mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units arranged in a double-loaded corridor create internal courtyards that open onto an active pool and gaming area from one entrance and a passive courtyard with fitness amenities at the alternate entrance. Traverse Apartments meets the needs of multi-generational residents from families to young professionals with amenities that include co-working areas as well as a rooftop beer garden where residents may enjoy the Colorado sunsets and take in the views to downtown on the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west.
