Costa Mesa, Calif.—Azulón at Mesa Verde, a 215-unit, market-rate seniors housing development, is now open in Costa Mesa with nearly 70 apartments occupied. Locally based M.V. Partners developed the “resort-inspired” project for renters over 55.

Located on 7.5 acres, with 40 percent of that total devoted to open space, Azulón is adjacent to Mesa Verde Center and offers residents direct access to that shopping center. The development’s design and landscape are a blend of indoor and outdoor spaces, amenities and access to neighborhood conveniences. The property is pet friendly and smoke free.

Common amenities include a saltwater pool and spa, poolside cabanas and shade trellises, outdoor fireplaces, gas barbecues and alfresco dining areas. Forty 50-year-old heritage trees, including mature eucalyptus and palm trees, were preserved from the original site. Azulón is also walkable property, earning a Walk Score of 77 out of 100 (“Very Walkable”) from the Walk Score organization.

Each unit is pre-wired for high-speed Internet, cable and satellite TV, and all of them include a private patio or balcony. Connectivity and social interaction are supported by a full-time program concierge, who oversees planned resident events and activities.

According to the developer, the property is the first new construction 55+ market-rate development in Costa Mesa in decades. The 55+ Housing Council, a special interest council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, recently recognized Azulón at Mesa Verde as an “On the Boards” Project of the Year winner.
