Wood framing rises for 228-unit apartment complex in Koreatown.

Nearly two years after breaking ground at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Wilton Place, wood framing has finally begun to climb at the construction site of a mixed-use development from Jamison Services, Inc.

The 3980 Wilshire development, which replaced several small commercial buildings, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 228 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 340 basement parking spaces.

The contemporary podium-type building is being designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning, and will be clad with with aluminum, cement plaster, and perforated metal screens.  Architectural plans show amenities such as a rooftop deck, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a courtyard.

Jamison Services, Koreatown’s largest commercial landlord and most prolific residential builder, is in the process of converting a 1950s office building across the street into apartments.

The developer has previously worked with KTGY on a similar mixed-use project on Olympic Boulevard.
