Urbanize LA

August 31, 2022

It was built with prefabricated modular units

In South Los Angeles, work is in the home stretch for Hope on Broadway, a new permanent supportive housing development from HBG Construction Corp. and Aedis Real Estate Group.

The project, located at the northeast corner of 52nd Street and Broadway, replaced a mortuary with a new four-story building which will feature 49 studio and one-bedroom apartments and supportive services when open.

KTGY designed the project, which has a metallic exterior, and will incorporate amenities such as a courtyard and a rooftop deck. As with other projects from HBG Construction Corp. and Aedis Real Estate Group, the building is composed of prefabricated modular units built off site and assembled on Broadway.

According to a 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the project was expected to cost roughly $22.2-million and offer rents ranging from $768 to $913 per month.

Hope on Broadway is one of three under construction developments from Hope Street Development Group, joining projects now rising in Hyde Park and Willowbrook. HBG and Aedis previously developed the Hope on Alvarado apartments in Westlake.
