HKS Architects and KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group will craft the 347-room hotel

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced the groundbreaking for its maiden hotel in San Antonio. Crafted by HKS Architects and KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, the 347-room hotel in the city’s Central Business District will encompass a 10-story new build as well as the adaptive reuse of a 1850s schoolhouse. A juxtaposition of history and modernity will define the property, radiating authenticity and the creative energy of the neighborhood.

“We’re looking forward to expanding our footprint in the Lone Star state,” said Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino. “Our hotels in Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth perform incredibly well, and we believe that San Antonio will round out our Texas portfolio nicely. Our partners at White Lodging are the ideal operators to bring this new Kimpton to life and embrace the soul of San Antonio.”

The forthcoming hotel—Kimpton’s fourth in Texas—will greet visitors with an airy, modern lobby as well as a courtyard populated by natural foliage. More than 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom, will be housed onsite along with a 24-hour fitness center. Two adjacent buildings will also undergo facelifts to host an upscale restaurant, lobby bar, and hotel suites. A rooftop pool and lounge will crown the hotel as well.
