In the heart of Playa Vista, master developer Brookfield Residential has put together Camden, a collection of loft-like flats with a beachy vibe and an eclectic, East Coast style, the latest addition to their master-planned residential, tech, and retail community. Perfectly situated near Venice, Santa Monica, and West LA, and an easy distance from LAX, Camden is adjacent to Google’s new campus and other tech companies and Playa Vista’s retail hub now dubbed “Silicon Beach.”

The Basics: With prices starting in the low $1M, the flats offer 3-4 bedrooms with 2-3.5 baths, all with 2-car private garages and outdoor space. We especially like the Residence One plan (below) with an optional dedicated office space between the two bedrooms. This is actually the smallest unit, coming in at about 1,600 square feet. All of Camden’s units have clearly separated public and private spaces, friendly to both working at home and entertaining.

A Little History: Once owned by aviator/film maker/visionary/legendary recluse Howard Hughes and Hughes Aircraft, the vast Playa Vista site is notable to vintage aviation buffs as the home of the Spruce Goose, the largest plane ever built, and other advanced aeronautics. More recently, the property and its immense aircraft hangars have been used as film sets, notably for Titanic and Avatar.
