Orange County, California, has long been a proving ground for new residential concepts. The Great Park community is an ongoing effort to transform the former Marine Corps airfield into exciting new residential neighborhoods woven into an expansive network of parks. To bring this vision to life, the city of Irvine formed relationships with regional developers to create a master plan that will define Orange County living for thousands of future residents.

KTGY’s design and planning teams were very excited to collaborate on this next step in the Irvine residential space. KTGY worked with FivePoint Communities, who is overseeing the Great Park neighborhoods master plan, and builder partner Trumark Homes to design unique and attractive single-family homes that would become L’Aube at Solis Park. French for dawn or daybreak, L’Aube makes every day bright for new families, professionals and anyone intrigued by fresh approaches to suburban living.

Working within the master plan, the design team created footprints that make the best use of each site, culminating in five floorplans and three distinct architectural styles. Each detached single-family home is in a contemporary, modern farmhouse or prairie vernacular. The designs are further differentiated with distinct color schemes for each style. Styleappropriate use of materials like stucco, fiber cement lap siding, board and batten, or brick and masonry veneers, gives each façade an immediately distinct and recognizable flair. KTGY’s designers also worked with the interior firm, CDC Designs, to match exterior and interior styles, establishing unique color and material palettes for each.

The resulting homes are a thoughtfully curated mix that bring a welcome variety to Solis Park. Collaborating with Trumark Homes, each floor plan was refined to offer a distinctive variation on active living. Main living and bedroom levels vary between floor plans, allowing the new owners to choose what suits them. Roof decks are placed on the second or third floor, depending on the unit location. Every resident will have priority access to park amenities, in addition to an abundance of residents-only amenities, including a pool and playgrounds, and walking access to Solis Park’s K-8 school.

L’Aube affords prospective residents the opportunity to live at the center of a dynamic suburban community amidst an explosion of growth. Even with the changing character of Orange County, this neighborhood represents a new kind of living that centers on recreation and community. The suburbanite of the 2020s isn’t looking to live in a meandering tract of cookie-cutter houses. They want a place to call home that feels intentional. Great Park is the pioneer of intentional living in Orange County. And, as this place continues to grow, everyone at KTGY is excited to see the vision taking shape in the company’s own backyard.
