PERRIS, CA – Perris Station Senior Apartment Homes in Perris, California continues its winning ways. Most recently the community, which was developed by Highridge Costa Housing Partners of Gardena, California, received several coveted Gold Awards in competition held by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Located in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, the apartment community was judged a winner in the building trade association’s categories of Best 50+ Mixed-Use Community, Best 50+ Independent Living Community and Best 50+ Affordable Rental Community. The community was also a finalist in the NAHB’s Best in Green Award (BIG) for Best in Green 50+ Home or Community. The awards were presented at the 2015 NAHB International Builders’ Show, held in Las Vegas.
“We are honored to be given these esteemed awards because they underscore our mission to create quality new affordable housing,” said Michael Costa of Highridge Costa. “We have a long waiting list for seniors wanting to reside at all of our 48 senior housing communities located throughout California. We need many more to be built to begin to meet the increasing demand.”
The $28 million, three-story, 84-unit senior living community is located in the heart of Perris’ historic district and includes a 16,000-square-foot courtyard on the second story of the complex and 9,300-square-feet of retail and office space. This LEED Gold certified community is the first nine percent tax-credit senior apartment community to be developed in Perris.
Perris Station is situated across the street from the local senior center and is also conveniently near the public library, a new Metrolink multi-modal transit center and a healthcare clinic.
In 2014, in the NAHB’s Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program, Highridge Costa won Best Creative Financing of an Affordable Housing Community of the Year honors for Perris Station. The community was also recognized as a finalist by the NAHB for Best Affordable Apartment Community of the Year, Best Rental Apartment Community of the Year, and Best Example of Green Building Concepts of the Year.
Also last year, the apartment community earned a Gold Achievement Award from the NAHB’s 50+ Housing Council for Best 50+ Mixed Use Community in the On the Boards competition. Other honors in 2014 included Perris Station being named Affordable Project of the Year in the 55+ Housing Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California’s SAGE Awards competition that recognizes individuals, projects and programs that improve the quality of life for Southern California residents who are 55-years or older. The community was also given PCBC’s Award of Merit for Best Seniors Housing Community.
In 2013, the Building Industry Association of Southern California presented its SAGE Award to Perris Station in the On the Board category for redevelopment.
Under the direction of Highridge Costa, the community was designed by KTGY Group Inc., Architecture + Planning, with interior design provided by Parisi Portfolio. It is intended for age-qualified residents with annual incomes that are 30 to 60 percent of Riverside County’s median income.
