New Senior Living Community to Bring Wide Range of Amenities and Lifestyle Options to San Juan Capistrano
Six times a week you can find Molly Murphy practicing her drop shots on the tennis court near her San Juan Capistrano home. At 80 years young, she enjoys playing the game that’s kept her feeling young for the last four decades. Within a year, she’ll have a new court and a group of competitors to face off against as she and more than 500 other seniors move into the area’s newest Life Plan Community, Reata Glen.
“I can’t wait to be within walking distance of the new court,” said Molly. “There will be so many new activities and hobbies for me to try out for the first time. My move to Reata Glen will ensure I have a plan for the future.”
Reata Glen is located on 60 acres of land at Ortega Highway and Reata Road in San Juan Capistrano. It includes 480 residential living apartment homes, with 20 unique floor plans, and sweeping views of the surrounding valley. The senior living community will meet the needs of the growing senior population of South Orange County. Currently 13 percent of the population have already reached their senior years; this number is expected to double by 2040 as the Baby Boomers age.
“We’re proud to bring this incredible new community to seniors in the Rancho Mission Viejo area, which will not only celebrate their social energy, but also their intellectual spirit, all in a beautiful and engaging atmosphere,” said Troy Bourne, marketing director of Reata Glen. “With the addition of Reata Glen, we’re continuing to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the future of senior living and to the community at large.”
Reata Glen partnered with California-based W.E. O’Neil Construction and KTGY Group Architects in building the community. More than 550 workers have spent two years constructing the community, which will offer more than 200 activities and amenities, including a movie theater, performing arts theater, a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, an indoor and outdoor pool, multiple dining venues, billiards and cards rooms, greenhouse and gardening areas, and walking and cycling trails with access to San Juan Creek Trail, leading directly to Doheny State Beach.
“Today’s active adults are seeking lifestyle amenities that complement the vibrant lives they’re choosing to lead. Reata Glen will bring together these elements, including personalized amenities, a healthy lifestyle, continuing education offerings and a variety of social activities, all designed to create a popular retirement destination for area seniors, nestled within a beautiful Rancho Mission Viejo landscape,” said Bourne.
Reata Glen will offer care at the adjacent health center, where future residents will have access to assisted living, memory care, and long-term care in a skilled nursing center, if they ever need it.
Construction on the community is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2019. The community will offer an estimated 300 jobs in the San Juan Capistrano area.
