Story

KTGY has partnered with the San Mateo County Community College District, SummerHill Homes, and D.R. Horton to develop an eight-acre site on the College Ridge at Skyline College. The overall development includes 30 affordable apartment units for district faculty and staff on approximately two acres, as well as another 40 single-family market-rate homes on six acres, built by D.R. Horton. The multifamily development offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments spread amongst two 15-unit buildings that also connect to two native landscaped outdoor areas, including a resident bbq amenity. The site is immediately adjacent to the main college campus, an older single-family neighborhood, and across from a single-family community that SummerHill Homes developed with the college district in the early 2000s. The entitlement process included extensive neighborhood outreach due to unusual property line conditions and coordination with the college campus. Currently pursuing a LEED Silver certification, this community incorporates numerous environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient features, including but not limited to EnergyStar appliances, low-emitting products, on-site electric car charging stations, native and drought-tolerant landscaping, and the use of environmentally preferable building products.
