Communications Hill will consist up to 2,200 residential units, including detached single family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and apartments. The site will also feature 80,000 sf of retail, along with commercial space at the village center. New infrastructure is planned as apart of the development and will include public improvements such as parks, trails, and a school site. The city wanted the design to be very contemporary , but needed to transition from Tuscan and Industrial architecture situated on either side of the site. So the design solution draws from four vernaculars: a clean tradition Spanish Mediterranean; an Irving Gill-inspired
Transitional style; Industrial Modern; and pure Contemporary architecture. To emphasize hillside character of the master plan concept, building heights range from 2-9 stories w/lower massing on hill’s rim and taller buildings along hill’s center ridge to create true hill town feel.
