Story

Gallery 64 is a multifamily complex sharing a courtyard with Washington D.C.’s Rubell Museum. Proximity to daring contemporary art sets a high bar for the building’s interior and art design. KTGY’s interior designers took the client’s ambitious direction and honed it to a bold furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) program that draws on the neighborhood’s art pedigree,
complements the interior design and allows form to follow function. Residents are greeted by a spacious, airy lobby that includes generous amenity space; the main hub for residents and visitors.

The first things one notices are the vibrant patterned rugs and bold hanging art pieces, our interior designers took this design direction and made an inviting atmosphere by introducing refined points of contact. They created clean lines with mid-century tables, shelves and seating in the resident lounge. Crisp color blocking carries a modern contrast between the furnishings, art and finishes. The maker space is a creative launchpad with its wood stools and selective accent colors. The penthouse amenity spaces are bold, but lived-in with chunky plush chairs, inviting sofas and refined light fixtures alongside the capitol room’s statement chandelier. Finally, the model units combine the best of the building’s striking art direction with understated furniture and fixtures for a feel of everyday sophistication. These exciting art-lead designs will welcome residents to a singular lifestyle of cultural and creative inspiration in the 2020s and beyond.
