Collin Square is an eight-building complex of garden walkups that creates a welcoming retreat on a site featuring protected creek beds and open, green spaces in McKinney, Texas. Internal gathering places and amenities concentrate around natural features, and the designers tie this community with connections through the site and to the adjacent planned retail center.
Our designers utilize brick, stone, corrugated metal and heavy timber to invoke Texas vernacular and create a comfortable but exciting look for the complex. The buildings and amenities orient around the creek and wooded areas, which also serve as a natural solution for drainage. A pedestrian bridge crosses the central-running creek and connects the site’s two halves. Buildings and units are oriented to capitalize on the views. Open spaces and amenities give the community a sense of identity and three-story buildings give the neighborhood an approachable scale. Trellises and colonnades bring the street fronting buildings into compliance while further enhancing outdoor space.
