THE FOUNDERS' LEGACY
In 1991, friends and colleagues Hiro Kinoshita, Jim Thomas, John Tully, Gary Gregson, Bob Yamafuji and Frank Yonemori started a small but ambitious firm in southern California, merging the first letters of their last names into the abbreviation: KTGY.
Their dream was to embrace generation-to-generation leadership and create a collaborative environment where new ideas and superior design would flourish.
The founders understood that a highly collaborative culture is essential — one where everyone puts respect first, passionately exchanges ideas, provides meaningful input, and enjoys the chance to learn from each other; reaching personal milestones as one part of something bigger.
Since our founding, KTGY has followed a source of steady growth that comes from great partnerships. By first listening to our clients to discern their needs, our skilled and passionate team members drive new work and firmwide expansion into different specialties.
What started as a California-based residential architecture practice, today is a growing multidisciplinary firm with offices around the country.
