KTGY’s urban design team specializes in story-led and people-focused plans that lay the groundwork for thriving communities. Our designers collaborated with this client to define a framework for their site that offers diverse housing options in a prevailing single family context. Comprehensive visioning, imagery, land use and site planning effectively communicate to the client and the public how this new community will look and feel once built. Located in Sonoma County, with proximity to California’s wine country, the master plan presents an exciting opportunity to reimagine a rural site in Petaluma, CA as a new community with a forward-thinking mix of home types, parks and amenities.

This development aims to create a sense of place that reflects Sonoma’s relaxed vineyard landscape. A community park featuring a sports complex, playground and dog park serves as the anchor of the community, providing fields and open lawns for various recreational activities. A tree-lined paseo with seating offers a serene and walkable environment. At the center of the development, a community center acts as a welcoming gathering space. The design incorporates natural textures, warm materials and inviting outdoor areas to promote a comfortable atmosphere. The planned arrangement of different home types, with larger single family homes around the perimeter and garden walkups surrounding the public spaces, introduces logic to the flow of people in a community encouraging active lifestyles.
