The Rose Ridge clubhouse is the jewel piece at the center of this age targeted community in Allison Park, PA. Open and expansive yet intimate enough to not require a fire suppression system, the clubhouse invites residents to gather in flexible interior spaces or the adjacent outdoor pool deck. Ease of movement and permeability were foundational to the design. The community kitchen, sports lounge, coffee lounge and wine tasting area give retirees every opportunity to stay as busy or relaxed as they want. Each zone is connected and flexible enough to accommodate additional uses. The architectural style and material pallet is timeless, pulling inspiration from the natural surroundings and blending with the homes in the neighborhood.
Working within a limited footprint, the original design called for sloped ceilings that expanded the space upward. When the client came back to KTGY asking for a skylight designers embraced the opportunity and restructured the space to allow light to flow in from all sides deepening the visual link to the outdoors. Whether residents sipping wine in the community kitchen or working up a sweat in one of the two fitness areas, the design encourages serendipitous encounters and the formation of deep connections.
