The Bradford, in Belmont, MD, is for individuals who own their own style, their own ideals, yet carry a desire to connect and build with others to form a thriving community. Inspired by Plymouth Colony founder William Bradford, this interior and brand design makes this development a community where residents curate their own lives. Through thoughtfully collected materials, readily available fixtures and furniture; and all the type, color, patterns and materiel of a mature brand, our two teams craft a reflectively luxurious concept that embodies its theme of forging progress together.

The two halves of this design combine historical significance and contemporary comfort. Intended for those approaching retirement and younger established professionals, the complex comprises three distinct buildings — The Winslow, The Pomona, and The Hyland. Unique entrances for each building, inspired by famous figures from Bradford’s lineage, enrich the experience and connect residents to the past while providing a sense of belonging in the present. The Hyland, the centerpiece of the community, houses the leasing office, a library room and a meticulously curated outdoor patio alongside a club room and rooftop deck. Custom bookcases in the library and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces encourage residents to write their own chapters while remaining connected to a larger story. The library, the communal courtyard and rooftop deck each offer three shades of intimate spaces where residents can gather, engage and enjoy time together. Each design element works in harmony to reinforce the project’s identity as a place where history, luxury, and personal experience converge.
