KTGY, a Great Places to Work certified architecture and design firm, is making significant strides in expanding its high-rise expertise by appointing Sam Luckino as principal in its Chicago office. With more than 20 years of experience in the architectural industry, Luckino’s addition to the team marks a key part of KTGY’s broader strategic growth efforts in the Midwest.
Luckino will work alongside Craig Pryde, another principal at KTGY, to lead the Chicago studio and expand the firm’s high-rise design portfolio. His deep-rooted experience in urban multifamily high-rise projects will serve as a major asset as KTGY seeks to establish a stronger foothold in Chicago’s competitive architectural landscape.
“Chicago is one of the most iconic cities in the world when it comes to architecture, and arguably the nicest in the U.S.,” said Luckino. “I’m excited to bring my experience and help KTGY shape the skyline here.”
Before joining KTGY, Luckino spent 13 years at Arquitectonica, where he led the New York office as principal and director. He later relocated to Chicago in 2018 to work with Goettsch Partners, expanding their high-rise portfolio nationwide. His work on urban multifamily high-rises includes notable projects like Coppia in Chicago’s West Loop and Alcove in downtown Nashville, further solidifying his reputation for delivering innovative solutions for complex urban sites.
Luckino’s ability to navigate the intricacies of designing for challenging, inadequately sized urban plots will be critical as KTGY looks to address the evolving landscape of Chicago’s architectural market. “Development sites in Chicago are becoming increasingly scarce,” Luckino explained. “Finding design solutions that make the complex look simple is an exciting challenge for our team.”
In addition to his design expertise, Luckino brings a collaborative approach that aligns with KTGY’s values. “The collaborative energy of the company is truly refreshing, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together,” he said. His leadership is expected to invigorate KTGY’s Chicago studio by strengthening existing client relationships and fostering new partnerships.
CEO Tricia Esser echoed the firm’s confidence in Luckino’s impact. “Sam has shown dedication to shaping skylines throughout his career,” she said. “His experience, combined with KTGY’s national presence, offers an exciting opportunity to expand our influence on urban environments in the Midwest.”
As KTGY continues to focus on multifamily, hospitality, and mixed-use developments, Luckino’s addition signifies a commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural design in Chicago and beyond.
