Orange County gets new prefabricated modular housing

In Midway City, construction is in now complete for Casa Paloma, a project billed as Orange County‘s first affordable housing developments to be built with prefabricated modular units.

Developed by American Family Housing, the project is located on a roughly one-acre site at 15161 Van Buren Street. The four-story structure contains 71 apartments, ranging from 600 to 900 square feet in size. The apartments include 48 units of permanent supportive housing, 21 general affordable units catering to households earning up to 50 percent of the area median income level, and two manager’s apartments.

KTGY is designed Casa Paloma, which has a contemporary exterior of white stucco. The building is arranged around a network of internal private courtyards, which provide open space for residents and natural lighting for their apartments.

American Family Housing, the developer, is planning a similar project combining affordable and permanent supportive housing in Alhambra.

Likewise, Casa Paloma is one of a handful of projects that KTGY is working on which combine permanent supportive housing with modular construction.
