In one of Denver, Colorado’s up-and-coming new neighborhoods, KTGY’s designers created a minimalist and modern hotel with enough flash to secure a place in the RiNo arts district. With a westward orientation, the building’s ground floor and reception plays with light and shadow, giving these areas an artistic feel without excess ornamentation. The wood-slat port cochere envelopes guests as they arrive and is positioned away from traffic-heavy Brighton Boulevard, creating a calm welcome. Patterned partitions separate the lobby’s open design into different uses: lounge, library, media salon and market.
Prefabricated panels led to quick and efficient construction. The building meets a high standard for sustainability with rooftop solar panels and a highly efficient HVAC system.
As a new addition to the neighborhood, the ground floor’s play of light, shadow and transparency creates a visual connection to the street. Above the street level, the designers use a slightly exaggerated sense of scale in the building’s primary mass to emphasize verticality and create a signature for the building. Facade materials and colors are all in a contemporary vernacular with a subtle residential character and a two-story wooden frame adorns the main amenity areas for added character.
