Located within an iconic Kansas City building, the overall design of The Town Company at Hotel Kansas City chronicles the evocative history of its landmark residence. This new 3-meal restaurant designed by KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group offers a culinary love letter to the region and honors the creative energies of those who established the city itself and those who are now leading its downtown rebirth.
Woven throughout The Town Company is a mix of both contemporary and original features – all of which serving as a reminder of the iconic club that once was. Enveloped in peacock blue walls, the restaurant design takes inspiration from a solicitor’s office with touches such as an entry host stand modeled on a traditional secretary’s desk. Existing wooden and leaded glass phone booths were maintained and dictated the architectural language and proportion throughout the restaurant’s walls.
Finer design details hark back at the city’s inception and first settlers. Brass, leather, and wood combine beautifully to create a setting for savoring the cuisine of the region, and an open kitchen with a brick hearth and hanging copper pots allows guests to enjoy a glimpse of culinary artistry.
From its quiet corners to its more communal hangouts, designers grounded The Town Company in the history that enriches its surrounding halls – imbued with a sense of place and dedicated to the grit and grace of the city it calls home.
